In this special live episode of Pets Add Life, recorded at Superzoo in Las Vegas, hosts Kristen and Chris dive into the inspiring stories of two incredible guests who are making a difference in the world of animal care and welfare.
Christy Stevens, Founder & Executive Director of Hearts Alive Village
Christy shares the heartfelt journey of founding Hearts Alive Village, Las Vegas's only all-in-one animal rescue. Motivated by a dream she shared with her daughter, Christy turned her passion for animal welfare into a reality, creating a sanctuary that offers a vet clinic, adoption center, fostering, rehoming, and more. She discusses the challenges of building such an impactful organization, the importance of owner-support programs in reducing pet homelessness, and her vision for the future of Hearts Alive Village.
Freddy Jacob Caseres, Owner of Freddy’s Reptiles
Freddy recounts his lifelong fascination with reptiles, from catching house geckos as a child to owning his very own reptile store in Las Vegas. Freddy's mission is to ensure that each reptile is hand-tamed, kid-friendly, and well-suited for families. He talks about the rewards and challenges of working with reptiles, offers advice for first-time reptile owners, and shares stories of some of the most unique reptiles that have passed through his doors.

00:00:14:08 - 00:00:23:09
Chris
Welcome, everybody, to the Pets Add Life Podcast. For those of you listening at home, we are live from Las Vegas, Nevada at Super Zoo.
00:00:23:09 - 00:00:24:11
Chris
Kristen, how are you doing?
00:00:24:11 - 00:00:27:18
Kristen
I'm doing great. I'm feeling great. This is our very first live. It's kind.
00:00:27:18 - 00:00:29:13
Chris
Of exciting. You got the jitters?
00:00:29:15 - 00:00:30:20
Kristen
No, because I have a glass of wine.
00:00:30:20 - 00:00:46:13
Chris
Yeah, I've had three beers. and immediately afterwards, I'm going to turn that into ten. It's my magic trick. It's it's. I've learned a lot from the David Copperfield's, over here in Las Vegas. So I've learned how to turn understudy. Yeah. And he told me that that's not a magic trick and that I should leave him alone.
00:00:47:04 - 00:00:54:15
Chris
I've talked to him otherwise. for those of you who don't know, on the power podcast, we have two amazing stories, two amazing guests.
00:00:54:18 - 00:00:56:14
Kristen
Two amazing products, and.
00:00:56:14 - 00:00:59:06
Chris
We're going to answer two questions live from the audience.
00:00:59:09 - 00:01:00:07
Kristen
Oh, we got a fan.
00:01:00:07 - 00:01:10:19
Chris
Already, man. I mean, thank you for the applause. We appreciate it. and so I believe Kristen. Yeah. The audience is so ready. Let's get into storytelling.
00:01:10:19 - 00:01:12:16
Kristen
Let's do it.
00:01:12:18 - 00:01:20:12
Chris
Kristen and Chris present story time. So normally when we're recording, we argue over who gets to go first.
00:01:20:14 - 00:01:20:23
Kristen
Yeah.
00:01:21:01 - 00:01:25:05
Chris
I know, it's like we're live. So we turn it into a bit. Okay. Rock paper scissors.
00:01:25:06 - 00:01:26:01
Kristen
Okay. That's it.
00:01:26:03 - 00:01:52:11
Chris
Rock paper scissors. Shoot. What's. That's what I don't know. That's for it's a shorter piece of paper. Okay, I guess that means I go first. Yes, you go first. My story of the week is lighthearted, fun, and, really just a pleasure. I've actually met a lot of dogs with interesting jobs while I'm here at Super Zoo. And it turns out, dogs can do a lot more than just play fetch, roll over, or, play dead.
00:01:52:11 - 00:02:11:12
Chris
You just figured that out. Dogs can fly planes. That's correct. People. You heard right. There was a lull in the crowd when I said that. They're like, I just can't. I can't even believe that's possible. A very lucky corgi had the opportunity to be a deputy pilot on a United Airlines flight. And if you know anything about airline travel, it can be incredibly miserable.
00:02:11:14 - 00:02:12:14
Chris
I if I got.
00:02:12:15 - 00:02:13:18
Kristen
Or somewhat miserable.
00:02:13:18 - 00:02:25:03
Chris
Somewhat. Yeah, but never happy. you never have a good excuse, right. but if I were to go to the airline and see that a Corgi was going to be my pilot, I think I would have a better time.
00:02:25:04 - 00:02:25:20
Kristen
Most,
00:02:25:22 - 00:02:44:21
Chris
And I believe Ron, who's now fiddling with a GoPro, has a little video that we're going to put up on the screen here because we are a multimedia podcast. Oh, that's us. There we go. Here's the corgi. Look at him go. So normally you see the code. You see the captain after you get off the plane and you're like, yeah, thanks for landing that plane.
00:02:45:06 - 00:02:55:11
Chris
but here he is in his little pilot's outfit, all ready to go get getting stretches. See, I'd be the jerk at the back of the line, getting annoyed that everybody's stopping the dog.
00:02:55:11 - 00:02:57:08
Kristen
I'd be like, especially if you had a connecting flight. Yeah.
00:02:57:09 - 00:03:17:04
Chris
Get me off of this tin can right now. but I just think it's awesome how animals are being amplified by some of these corporations. there's a lot of really great stuff that animals have to offer. We all know that everybody listening knows that. But sometimes it takes a special little tick to look at that, and sometimes it takes a special little tick tock to really, drive that point home.
00:03:17:04 - 00:03:19:16
Kristen
You know, I love that. Yeah. I'd love to be on that flight.
00:03:19:21 - 00:03:20:11
Chris
Yeah. Me too.
00:03:20:15 - 00:03:45:15
Kristen
So I've got a story that's sort of similar. And, you know, you and I don't collaborate before the show. We don't, which is a shame, but it's a shame. It's a shame because it would probably better show if we did. But but my story is very similar. I had the opportunity, as you mentioned, at the top, we're here in Las Vegas for Super Zoo, and I had the opportunity to attend the Human Animal Bond Research Initiative, Innovation Awards two nights ago, and there were some really incredible, awardees.
00:03:45:18 - 00:04:11:16
Kristen
But my personal favorite was, they they received the award for the pet inclusive infrastructure category. This was the Tybee Island Police Department, which is near Savannah, Georgia. And what this police department does is they work with the local humane society, and they actually bring one of the adoptable pets on the job, in, in a cruiser every single day.
00:04:11:18 - 00:04:23:04
Kristen
And these pets get to, like, interact with the community. And they said that every single pet that's been a K-9 cop for the day has either gotten a foster home or has been adopted. That's not cool.
00:04:23:07 - 00:04:23:21
Chris
That's amazing.
00:04:23:21 - 00:04:32:03
Kristen
And that, like you said, you know, like the Corgi on the airline side, infusing pets into, you know, police work. That's that's a great idea.
00:04:32:03 - 00:04:36:02
Chris
My question is as like a tabby cat ever made like a huge drug bust.
00:04:36:07 - 00:04:40:03
Kristen
Oh, I don't know. But they but they did. They did feature a cat. One week.
00:04:40:03 - 00:04:41:02
Chris
One. Just one week.
00:04:41:02 - 00:04:42:17
Kristen
Just. I don't know why consistently.
00:04:42:23 - 00:04:43:10
Chris
I mean.
00:04:43:12 - 00:04:45:21
Kristen
K-9 cat, K9 cat, that's a new.
00:04:45:23 - 00:04:56:10
Chris
Yeah. K9 cat sounds like a superhero. All right, write that down. Write that down. Yeah. Okay. Okay. That's a that's another show we got that got that going on. and so they, like, actually get to ride around on the police.
00:04:56:10 - 00:05:12:02
Kristen
Yes, yes. Now, I don't think they're going on drug busts or, you know, murder investigations. Well, I know, I know, but but the point is, they want these pets to interact with the community. So it's more of like a patrol kind of situation where the community gets to know the pets and gets to know the local police officers, and.
00:05:12:02 - 00:05:13:14
Chris
Every single one is wound up in a home.
00:05:13:18 - 00:05:17:04
Kristen
Every single one has either wound up in a in a foster home or been adopted.
00:05:17:07 - 00:05:17:20
Chris
That's amazing.
00:05:17:20 - 00:05:27:06
Kristen
Yeah. So amazing. Yeah. So? So yeah, I'm positive. Paws up. Cause I was up to Tybee Island Police Department. All right, well.
00:05:27:06 - 00:05:43:18
Chris
I think we have our first guest. Do we, do we have a. Oh, yeah. We do have a can go beyond the leash. Exploring the untold stories of pet passion and professionalism. Be on the leash, everybody, please welcome to the show Kristi Steiner.
00:05:43:20 - 00:06:05:00
Kristen
Welcome, Kristi. You are the founder and executive director at Hearts Alive Village, and I want to read a little bit about you that you left in 2013 after volunteering at a small local shelter, you and your daughter, discovered that you shared a dream of opening an animal sanctuary driven by a passion for animal welfare and a desire to show your daughter that dreams do come true.
00:06:05:10 - 00:06:18:04
Kristen
you dedicated yourself to creating a nonprofit organization aimed at making the Las Vegas Valley a kinder place for pets. So you created hearts Alive Village? That's right. And that was how many years ago, 2013. So what did the math?
00:06:18:04 - 00:06:20:10
Christy
11 years? Yeah. Yeah. Well.
00:06:20:12 - 00:06:25:12
Kristen
You're quite a big deal in the animal community here in Las Vegas, which is why we we found you.
00:06:25:12 - 00:06:30:17
Chris
I was actually shocked that you accepted our invitation because you're such a big deal.
00:06:30:19 - 00:06:38:11
Kristen
So many. Well, tell me, tell us a little bit about the origin story. How did you and your daughter go from volunteering at a local animal shelter to actually founding your own?
00:06:38:15 - 00:07:05:16
Christy
Well, I have no idea that she was so affected by her volunteer experience. And there was, you know, particular dog that she was very fond of, that we advocated for and we struggled to find this home. And, she was she just couldn't believe that it just wasn't something we could solve like that. And maybe it takes a lot of work and our of the organization that we that we volunteered with were a little bit different about how we were able to engage as volunteers.
00:07:05:16 - 00:07:17:12
Christy
And so she said, you know, I'd really I want I want to create an, an organization where everybody can volunteer and participate and help these animals. And, she actually named it heartily. Yeah.
00:07:17:17 - 00:07:19:05
Kristen
And how old was she at the time?
00:07:19:07 - 00:07:34:21
Christy
Oh my gosh, she did it as an essay in her fifth grade like composition notebook that I got at the end of the year. And she wrote about it and I said, kiddo, is this really what you want to do? And she said, yeah, but I, I didn't think it was possible because you work too much.
00:07:35:00 - 00:07:35:17
Kristen
Oh my.
00:07:35:17 - 00:07:54:17
Christy
Gosh. So my heart like Tiger oh Charlie Tiger. And I'm like, wait a second, you can absolutely make this dream come true. We'll start small. And we started small with a pet food bank called Kendall's Cupboard. That's her name. Kendall. And that's what started it all. And it's been 11,000 plus animals later that we've saved through our rescue effort.
00:07:54:18 - 00:07:55:20
Kristen
Wow. Yeah.
00:07:55:21 - 00:07:59:14
Christy
That's fantastic. So it's it's it was a little girl's dream.
00:07:59:20 - 00:08:05:20
Chris
That's amazing. So what makes Hearts Alive Village so special? What makes it different from a common rescue?
00:08:05:20 - 00:08:28:05
Christy
Well, one of the things that we realized early on is, we can't rescue our way out of the problem. And we started to ask, why? Why are these animals ending up in the system? And we realized that it was a lack of resources for pet parents and families. And so we started to really focus on all these owner support, resources.
00:08:28:07 - 00:08:42:14
Christy
And in 2020, we opened the very first nonprofit, full service veterinary hospital in the state of Nevada. And for years, the hardest thing we've ever done. But, you know, we're serving about 1200 pets a month now.
00:08:42:14 - 00:08:45:03
Kristen
So wow, that's a month. That's incredible.
00:08:45:05 - 00:08:45:19
Chris
Big number.
00:08:45:23 - 00:08:48:11
Kristen
And that's not just feeding and neutering vaccines. You said it's full service.
00:08:48:11 - 00:09:12:04
Christy
Yeah full service. So we're doing special surgeries and everything. So sick and injured and and it really makes a big difference for access to veterinary care is the largest threat to animal welfare right now. So that is a major lack here in this in this city. the corporatization of that is, is, you know, really driven the prices up and it's out of reach for most people.
00:09:12:09 - 00:09:25:13
Christy
Yeah. So we talk about this and we we call it community sheltering. You know, that's where we've got a look. We've got over 20 million pets living in poverty with their people. If we don't look, they're we're missing the mark. So yeah, that's a great point.
00:09:25:14 - 00:09:30:07
Kristen
What are some of the other resources that have been lacking for pet parents in the Las Vegas Valley?
00:09:30:07 - 00:09:50:14
Christy
Well, we have, it's a really rough, world out there across the country, but especially in Las Vegas for, lower income housing. And, you know, just house inclusivity. Pets are family, too, but they're not welcome in most places. And so that's been one of the biggest threats here as well. And, you know, we're working with our local jurisdictions.
00:09:50:14 - 00:10:08:08
Christy
We're working with our state legislators. We're trying to, you know, make pet but make housing more inclusive for the entire family. But that's a big deal. And also just, you know, pet supplies and food. So we we have a pet food bank and we serve about 400 families a month with that.
00:10:08:12 - 00:10:18:21
Chris
That's amazing. Yeah. So it seems like part of the problem is keeping, getting pets out of shelters. The other side of it is making sure they don't end up there in the first place. Yeah, that's the goal.
00:10:18:21 - 00:10:45:21
Christy
And really, I think that's where our biggest impact is. You know, right now our our pace is about 2000 animals a year with our with our rescue efforts. But we do everything we can not to have to rescue them. And you know, with things like our veterans program, Charlie. Mike where if I, if a veteran is struggling and needs to get into the hospital and they don't have any family, that animal would normally go to the shelter and they lose their best friend.
00:10:45:21 - 00:10:58:12
Christy
Yeah. So we do things like boarding so that, you know, they can if they're having a mental health crisis or they have to go to the hospital or drug treatment or something that we keep them safe so they can be reunited with their best friend. Yeah.
00:10:58:17 - 00:11:00:04
Kristen
How has the community stepped up to.
00:11:00:04 - 00:11:20:21
Christy
Support this initiative? Oh my goodness. We're really grateful for it. For the Las Vegas community. And we try really hard to get the word out there because we need everybody. but, you know, businesses from Subaru to Zappos have really come through for us. Wonderful. Yeah. And, you know, we've worked super, super hard as an organization to be very business minded.
00:11:21:09 - 00:11:43:08
Christy
so things like our, our cat cafe, which is a really fun place to go. It's just a $15 donation to come in. It helps to fund the space the employees and I it it's even starting to turn a profit where where we're paying for medical for our cats, which is crazy. And you know, our, our our hospital generates revenue because we can't we can't get vet staff for free.
00:11:43:08 - 00:11:49:16
Christy
Right. So we're working really hard to be a sustainable organization as much as we can. But boy do we need donations.
00:11:49:18 - 00:11:57:16
Chris
So yeah, you need donations. So everybody listening, open up your wallets. Yes. And where where specifically can they go and open those up.
00:11:57:20 - 00:12:20:21
Christy
So you can go to Hearts Alive village.org and find out about all of our programs. And there's donate buttons everywhere. And then we'd love for you to come. We'd love for you to come to our Facebook page and our Instagram. yeah, we the stories are every single day of, you know, redemption for families so that they can stay together and pets who need a second chance.
00:12:20:23 - 00:12:23:13
Christy
And, yeah, it matters a lot.
00:12:23:15 - 00:12:33:21
Chris
And finally, what's the future hold. Let's just say, you know, everything goes according to plan. We end up with a ton of money in the bank. What? What would you do with, you know, let's just even say, like $100,000.
00:12:33:22 - 00:12:34:15
Kristen
Well, I'll tell you.
00:12:34:16 - 00:13:02:19
Christy
Do let me tell you right now, actually, about a really exciting thing that's just taking shape. one of the things that we're struggling with most here is access to and neuter. So obviously we can't keep up with the birth rate. We're in trouble. So right now we're in talks, funding and and purchasing of another clinic that we're going to turn into a high volume spay and neuter center to hopefully do a minimum of an additional 15,000 spay and neuter surgeries a year.
00:13:02:21 - 00:13:20:10
Christy
So that is taking place right now, and that is the future. And and we are, you know, any money right now. And we want to definitely go to any preventative services like that. We want to make sure we can help people access that really incredibly important preventative measure.
00:13:20:11 - 00:13:32:19
Kristen
Does the Las Vegas tourism help it, help the shelter, help the, do you want more? Yeah, I wish so I was just going to say if you're if you're planning a visit to Las Vegas, come visit. Visit the cat cafe. Please do that.
00:13:32:23 - 00:13:41:09
Christy
Yeah, that's definitely the cat cafe has been a really big access point for our tourism more than anything, because people go all over the world and they go, where's the cat cafe?
00:13:41:10 - 00:13:42:02
Kristen
Right?
00:13:42:04 - 00:13:53:05
Christy
You know, and because most big cities have it and so we really we're really grateful for that. That's helping the Las Vegas tourism learn about Hearts Alive Village. So yeah, cat cafe.
00:13:53:07 - 00:13:56:01
Chris
That's awesome. Let's get that website one more time for everybody listening.
00:13:56:01 - 00:13:58:09
Kristen
It's Hearts Alive village.org.
00:13:58:09 - 00:14:09:17
Chris
With donation buttons everywhere I, I want it I don't want to see in the comments say I couldn't find it. Everyone let's give it up one more time for Christy. Thank you so much. Thank you Christy.
00:14:09:18 - 00:14:10:22
Christy
Can.

Pets Add Life.

Chris
Our next guest is highly anticipated, much to my chagrin. Freddie has a fascination with reptiles that began at a young age when he would spend hours in his backyard catching house geckos. I should do the same thing. This early interest in all things alive and moving soon developed into a deep passion for reptiles. His journey into reptile care and education took a significant step when his father purchased his first reptile, a leopard gecko.
00:14:42:02 - 00:15:04:09
Chris
Great intro reptile, folks. Although the gecko passed away because all things are fleeting, Freddie's curiosity and determination only grew from visiting pet shops to handling a large green iguana he found at a swap meet in California. Freddie's dedication to understanding and caring for reptiles solidified his goal to open a reptile store where people could not just find a pet, but the perfect pet.
00:15:04:09 - 00:15:12:00
Chris
So Freddie, thank you so much for joining us. I love you, I like the shirt, by the way. Thank you. I wore it just for.
00:15:12:00 - 00:15:13:18
Freddy
You know, a bandana is my super hero.
00:15:13:21 - 00:15:20:09
Chris
Isn't it? It's. Oh, I like to convince myself that I'm Batman because I like to be awake at night and I'm depressed.
00:15:20:10 - 00:15:23:04
Freddy
Oh, my God.
00:15:23:06 - 00:15:24:14
Kristen
That's a different that's a.
00:15:24:14 - 00:15:37:09
Chris
Yeah, that's a different take on that. Let's get into the interview. Yeah. Let's get it in here. so obviously you have an incredible passion for reptiles. What what made you decide that this is going to be your business, your livelihood?
00:15:38:00 - 00:16:01:11
Freddy
you know, coming to Vegas, I noticed that, you know, all the stores are amazing, but I just felt like they were never meeting my expectation. They weren't never to the top tier. They didn't have good customer service. They weren't clean. They weren't keeping up with their animals. And it made me want to. And it actually made me want to pursue more like, you know, if I step into this, I want to make sure my store is first.
00:16:01:11 - 00:16:10:22
Freddy
Amazing. You have good customer service. You're coming in, look at beautiful animals are healthy that want to be touch. That's something that skinny or doesn't want to be touched. You know.
00:16:10:22 - 00:16:11:07
Kristen
It's a great.
00:16:11:07 - 00:16:27:08
Freddy
Point. I just want to make sure that when people come to a store, they feel like they stepped into a new world. And that's what made me want to push it further and further. At first I was doing nothing but geckos, but then I was thinking in myself, I'm like, you know, my name doesn't say Freddy's Geckos. This is Freddy's reptile.
00:16:27:10 - 00:16:44:06
Freddy
So then, you know, I'm in the garage brainstorming. And I was like, what else can I get into? What else can I get into? You know, and I did take a couple classes, so I did it. A lot of, you know, herpetology and stuff. So I know what I'm doing. And as well too, I used to work for a couple of, the local stores here in Vegas, Austin.
00:16:44:07 - 00:17:02:23
Freddy
So I had a huge mind, and I knew about almost everything. So it started after geckos. It went from tegus. It went from black throat monitors, roughneck monitors, club breads. I even got I even get into anacondas. And the thing is, like, no one would have any anacondas in anacondas.
00:17:02:23 - 00:17:04:17
Chris
Like from the movies. Yeah.
00:17:04:19 - 00:17:06:22
Freddy
On those green and yellow anacondas.
00:17:07:00 - 00:17:10:12
Kristen
It's pretty. How important is education at your store?
00:17:10:13 - 00:17:28:22
Freddy
Education is everything to me. You know, I want to make sure that my guests, I call them my guests because I always see them again and again. Yeah, I want to make sure that my guests find their dream at home, and I want to make sure that they know what they're getting themselves into. Yeah. Nowadays you go into these other pets or people just get an animal because, oh, it looks cool, or hi, my buddy has that.
00:17:28:22 - 00:17:36:13
Freddy
That's why I want to get it here. I want to make sure that you know what you're getting yourself into, because I want that animal stay with you. Yeah, I you know, everything you.
00:17:36:19 - 00:17:43:08
Chris
Asked about education. Freddy and I were chatting before the show, and he does this for schools. So you want to talk about a little bit of the work you do in your community?
00:17:43:08 - 00:18:01:22
Freddy
I do a lot of, I do a lot of big events for schools, some more, some more Ccsd schools. So I work for a lot of Mater Academy, Core Academy as well to where I do, guys is I show up to school, I bring a handful of animals from about 10 to 15 different ones. I love to educate all the kids.
00:18:02:00 - 00:18:17:11
Freddy
And the best part about the kids is that you have nothing to be a freak. Especially when they see me holding a scorpion or they see me holding a tarantula. I don't want and you guys to be free. I know you told me you're afraid of tarantulas, so you got lucky I didn't bring one today. I got so lucky.
00:18:17:13 - 00:18:25:18
Chris
You guys don't understand. I've been dreading it this entire trip. And finally, Lady Luck has paid off. I'm hitting the slots tonight.
00:18:25:20 - 00:18:36:02
Kristen
Pretty. It's. It's because we weren't ever introduced to tarantulas as, you know, as a child. And if I. If we hadn't been exposed to that and learned about them early on, I probably wouldn't be afraid of them.
00:18:36:04 - 00:18:38:01
Chris
I speak for yourself. They're Christian.
00:18:38:02 - 00:18:54:21
Freddy
Yeah. Believe this or not. Just like I said, being afraid right now. My daughter is two years old now. She is not afraid of anything. She will hold my tarantula. She will hold my giant snakes with me. If I'm out there wrangling one of my lizards. She's right there, right behind me, trying to figure out what am I holding?
00:18:54:23 - 00:18:59:11
Freddy
Right? That's awesome. My daughter's a perfect example of keeping your kids around the animals.
00:18:59:13 - 00:19:00:00
Kristen
Exactly.
00:19:00:02 - 00:19:01:23
Freddy
Be afraid of the unknown existence.
00:19:01:23 - 00:19:07:11
Chris
And speaking of some of your animals, I want to save enough time for this. You brought some animals for us to see.
00:19:07:13 - 00:19:33:21
Freddy
Actually, I didn't bring him. I actually brought my son. Do you guys want to meet my son? Yeah. Why not? Let's do it. Same here. Let's. He's gonna come right out to you guys. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. I thought I would introduce to my son who is. This is Kumba. He is a potbelly pig. It's been long but we actually had like seven different names for him.
00:19:33:21 - 00:19:45:20
Freddy
And we're like, I let my daughter decide. And my daughter was like, over. And I'm like, okay, yeah, okay. Yeah. Name is a potbelly pig. believe it or not, he's the only one that survived in his life.
00:19:45:21 - 00:19:46:17
Kristen
Really?
00:19:46:19 - 00:19:48:06
Freddy
Yes. Yes, yes.
00:19:48:08 - 00:19:49:19
Kristen
So he was.
00:19:49:20 - 00:20:08:00
Freddy
Like a, The mother was very new. She didn't know what she was doing. for, for them passed away. Yeah. He likes to come out for them. Passed away at birth. And then she accidentally rolled on the others and gosh. And he was the only one left. but here is about a week old now.
00:20:08:02 - 00:20:09:21
Kristen
Oh, look at we can I live in.
00:20:09:23 - 00:20:16:09
Freddy
Oh, she's got a little baby. Oh, my gosh, he is very, very cute. He is very curious.
00:20:16:11 - 00:20:18:16
Chris
He's got something to say. He's going for the microphone.
00:20:18:18 - 00:20:30:17
Freddy
Do you want to. Do you want to feed him? I would love to do that. I look like I said, this is his dog. So much better. I so right at that. Oh, I higher pick it up higher.
00:20:30:19 - 00:20:31:01
Kristen
Higher.
00:20:31:06 - 00:20:33:10
Freddy
Like that. And he's latched on. Oh boy.
00:20:33:12 - 00:20:34:22
Kristen
Oh my.
00:20:35:00 - 00:20:45:12
Freddy
So I believe he's, he lived 20 years in, in the state and laws in the state of Nevada. In Las Vegas you only have two. So I happen to right now I'm not getting another one.
00:20:45:14 - 00:20:46:13
Chris
Yeah. Yeah.
00:20:46:15 - 00:20:50:03
Kristen
Now how big does a potbelly pig actually get a full page?
00:20:50:06 - 00:20:56:12
Freddy
Can you get around 50 pound sometimes on rare occasions are all the fat. They can even get 100 pounds.
00:20:56:12 - 00:21:01:14
Kristen
Okay okay. So you need to be thinking about they're tiny now but you need to be thinking about when they're they call.
00:21:01:14 - 00:21:04:11
Chris
Them potbelly pigs, not tiny belly pigs.
00:21:04:13 - 00:21:16:11
Freddy
You know, I've seen the miniature ones are like 30 pounds on the top of the cake. I'm like, so how are you? 21? That's big. Yeah. Right. Yeah. It's it's crazy the way these animals are nowadays.
00:21:16:13 - 00:21:17:04
Chris
That's absolutely.
00:21:17:07 - 00:21:18:01
Kristen
Are you jealous?
00:21:18:01 - 00:21:18:12
Chris
Yeah.
00:21:18:14 - 00:21:21:08
Freddy
The pig. Yeah. Yeah. I think you're in love.
00:21:21:10 - 00:21:23:02
Kristen
So we one week.
00:21:23:02 - 00:21:34:01
Freddy
Old come bud. Oh my God, I got up last. Oh you the phone call. It was like hey, so I get ready. You want to pig? I'm like yeah.
00:21:34:03 - 00:21:38:18
Kristen
So you're so you're sort of a masculine person. So I was like, yes, okay.
00:21:38:20 - 00:21:54:18
Freddy
Good thing you said rescue. You know, I get a lot of people who come in and be like, hey, I can no longer take this animal. Can you please take care of it? Yeah. Come bring it in. I never say no. I've had people tell me they find bearded dragons in the park, in the parking lot, or even in the desert.
00:21:54:20 - 00:22:09:10
Freddy
In the meeting, I think to myself is like, what was that owner thinking? Why would you leave this beautiful animal out there like that? You know, it can't survive in your heat. And thank God for those people that bring me those animals, you know. Yes, I'm actually helping them out and trying to give them.
00:22:09:12 - 00:22:11:19
Kristen
Do you rehome them typically or yes, I do.
00:22:11:22 - 00:22:17:15
Freddy
That's wonderful. Before I rehome the animals that come into me, I usually give them about like three weeks.
00:22:17:15 - 00:22:17:20
Kristen
Yeah.
00:22:17:22 - 00:22:22:00
Freddy
Quarantine. Right. Okay. Make sure they're good. They have no parasites. Right. They're not skinny.
00:22:22:04 - 00:22:22:17
Kristen
Enough.
00:22:22:19 - 00:22:23:08
Freddy
Hydrated.
00:22:23:09 - 00:22:23:21
Kristen
Okay.
00:22:23:23 - 00:22:28:20
Freddy
After the three weeks is over, they go right back on themselves. I need to move to the perfect farm.
00:22:28:20 - 00:22:29:08
Kristen
Great.
00:22:29:09 - 00:22:38:11
Chris
I apologize, I completely tuned out of that part of the. I'm over here in Pig World. I'm going to give to my here.
00:22:38:14 - 00:22:42:08
Kristen
What do we have? What do we have next? Ready? I'm almost. I'm almost afraid to ask.
00:22:42:13 - 00:22:45:14
Freddy
All right. So. Okay, so you guys MacGruber.
00:22:45:19 - 00:22:46:12
Chris
We met Pumba.
00:22:46:15 - 00:22:47:05
Freddy
All right.
00:22:47:07 - 00:22:49:12
Kristen
So let's watch these guys.
00:22:49:14 - 00:22:50:11
Freddy
Are you a fan of snakes?
00:22:50:19 - 00:22:51:15
Chris
I'm good with snakes.
00:22:51:21 - 00:22:54:21
Kristen
I wouldn't say I'm a fan, but I'm. I'm not anti.
00:22:54:23 - 00:22:56:00
Chris
I'm not into snake.
00:22:56:03 - 00:23:16:23
Freddy
So here is a rare, a rare species you don't see often. This in my hand is a green anaconda. Like. Yes. Wet green anaconda. Reason why? Yes. The reason why she's wet. Because these animals spend 90% of their time in the water. So anacondas hold the record for being the heaviest snake in the world. Not the longest.
00:23:16:23 - 00:23:26:11
Freddy
The only one that beats them or the reticulated pythons. They can get around 25ft, almost 30ft long, I believe. Just three months ago, an old lady got swallowed by one in Thailand.
00:23:26:13 - 00:23:27:22
Kristen
Are you kidding me?
00:23:28:00 - 00:23:32:01
Chris
You brought one into the sweet? Yes.
00:23:32:03 - 00:23:37:23
Freddy
So green anacondas right here, believe it or not. Know how big you think it's going to get.
00:23:38:01 - 00:23:38:17
Kristen
For.
00:23:38:19 - 00:23:39:09
Chris
Six and a half.
00:23:39:09 - 00:23:39:14
Kristen
Feet?
00:23:39:14 - 00:23:51:21
Freddy
Sounds happy. Yeah. So you're not wrong. These guys will actually max out around 15ft. Two, maybe even 20ft. They will not hit their world record in the wild because they're not eating right.
00:23:52:02 - 00:23:53:20
Chris
Yeah. How old is this guy here.
00:23:53:21 - 00:24:18:03
Freddy
So this femur right here is about 2.5ft long, maybe three now. I've had her since January, but to all these girls, they can live around me 20 years. Even past that, even past that, I have the salt. But they're honestly one of my favorite snakes. They have so much color in them. And believe it or not, you can actually hibernate and you can actually hybridize.
00:24:18:03 - 00:24:19:18
Freddy
I think that's really I think I said, right, I.
00:24:19:23 - 00:24:20:14
Kristen
I'd hibernate.
00:24:20:17 - 00:24:21:17
Chris
Backwards on the show.
00:24:21:17 - 00:24:22:20
Kristen
All right. Right, right, right.
00:24:22:22 - 00:24:30:06
Freddy
Where you going. So you can actually hybridize a snake with a bow and it's called a bow. What kind of. Yeah. Yeah.
00:24:30:08 - 00:24:30:14
Kristen
Yeah.
00:24:30:19 - 00:24:50:11
Freddy
I mean, there's nothing to fear about them. You know, I tell people, you always got to hold these animals if you're nice and calm. Yeah, yeah. If you're nice and calm, the animal going to be nice. If you're finicky and you're like, I'm nervous and stuff. Yeah, that's okay. That's. Now, what is she eating right now? She's eating tilapia.
00:24:50:13 - 00:24:58:22
Freddy
She's eating catfish and occasionally should eat chicken feet or pizza. No rats. She will not touch you, but it's because they live.
00:24:58:22 - 00:25:01:23
Kristen
In the water. I kind of sort of, kind of want to hold their own.
00:25:01:23 - 00:25:07:23
Freddy
Good. It's okay. Just like this. Oh, I'm. It's better just like that. And then it goes.
00:25:08:04 - 00:25:08:15
Kristen
What do I mean?
00:25:08:15 - 00:25:15:22
Freddy
Is not the time longer? Okay, let her do a thing. You want to ask? Hey, you're in the tree branch. Okay, so this hands up. You get right under.
00:25:16:00 - 00:25:17:02
Kristen
Your swing right now.
00:25:17:05 - 00:25:18:04
Chris
I'm right under her hair.
00:25:18:06 - 00:25:19:14
Kristen
Oh, okay. Okay, I got you.
00:25:19:16 - 00:25:24:03
Freddy
There you go. You kind of want to support her weight. Okay?
00:25:24:05 - 00:25:24:23
Kristen
By doing okay.
00:25:25:02 - 00:25:26:01
Chris
You're doing a great job.
00:25:26:03 - 00:25:27:18
Freddy
Yay! Snake master, you're doing good.
00:25:27:19 - 00:25:31:23
Chris
Snake. Master. Snake. Master. Christian. Everybody. Snake! Master! Chris!
00:25:32:01 - 00:25:33:21
Kristen
Chris, what's he doing?
00:25:33:21 - 00:25:35:23
Chris
What do I do now? I don't know, do now. Sorry.
00:25:35:23 - 00:25:47:05
Freddy
You didn't ask him. Chris. Okay, so, Chris, just get under my back. There you go. Yeah, there you go. I'll be more gentle. It's okay. She.
00:25:47:07 - 00:25:49:05
Chris
She's just reacting.
00:25:49:07 - 00:25:50:18
Freddy
It'll be fine.
00:25:50:20 - 00:25:51:17
Chris
She can't hurt me.
00:25:51:21 - 00:25:53:19
Freddy
She could try. That was.
00:25:53:19 - 00:25:56:01
Chris
Cool. I'm entering my slithering era.
00:25:56:01 - 00:26:01:22
Freddy
Oh my gosh, Chris. So again that's a green anaconda okay. Green one of my favorites.
00:26:02:00 - 00:26:05:02
Kristen
Well, obviously not a poisonous snake. No, no. Yeah.
00:26:05:02 - 00:26:10:11
Freddy
These guys are constrictors mean okay. You grab that prey, they squeeze you till you let out every last breath.
00:26:10:11 - 00:26:11:15
Kristen
Okay, wait. What's next?
00:26:11:15 - 00:26:13:21
Freddy
What's next? Let's see what's next.
00:26:13:23 - 00:26:19:16
Kristen
Oh, no, it's getting it out of the box. Oh, Lord. No. Oh.
00:26:19:18 - 00:26:24:05
Freddy
Yes. What's up? What's the word spicy? I mean, they said spicy.
00:26:24:05 - 00:26:24:22
Kristen
Spicy.
00:26:25:00 - 00:26:30:00
Freddy
So this little prehistoric dude, I'm holding is called a Mexican spiny tail iguana.
00:26:30:05 - 00:26:32:18
Kristen
Mexican spiny tailed iguana.
00:26:32:21 - 00:26:52:05
Freddy
Okay, so these guys are near to Mexico. You can even find them in Cancun. They're really, really beautiful. This is actually a little subadult male. Believe it or not, he has another two feet left of growth. Wow. How old is he? Oh, he's ready for more. Yeah, yeah. So believe it or not, this guy's actually about nine months.
00:26:52:07 - 00:27:07:10
Freddy
Oh, wow. Yep. So around this age, right here we go. And people think that the iguanas especially these are here. We nothing but greens. Right. This guy will actually prey on small mammals. Small lizard as well. 280% greens. But they are predators as well too.
00:27:07:11 - 00:27:10:23
Chris
It's not because I'm a small mammal.
00:27:11:01 - 00:27:19:09
Freddy
Will be sad in the reason why the complex is fatal. If you look at that beautiful prehistoric town, you can touch it, you know.
00:27:19:11 - 00:27:20:08
Kristen
Like, oh, wow.
00:27:20:11 - 00:27:21:22
Chris
That's a dragon tail.
00:27:22:00 - 00:27:22:17
Freddy
You know, it's actually.
00:27:22:21 - 00:27:23:20
Chris
Yeah, I do.
00:27:23:22 - 00:27:24:03
Kristen
Mean.
00:27:24:03 - 00:27:29:02
Chris
Body. Oh, wow. Yeah. Well, geez. So today is is that for defense?
00:27:29:02 - 00:27:34:00
Freddy
Mostly. So sometimes they will drop that shell. You notice this guy did drop his tail. Yeah.
00:27:34:01 - 00:27:35:01
Kristen
Yeah. It looks different here.
00:27:35:04 - 00:27:46:22
Freddy
Yes. Yep. So it's regrown behalf at a time. These guys would dig massive burrows. And if you try to reach down it, you'll actually use its tail as a leverage to hit you of its tail. Or if it doesn't work, it'll turn around, bite you.
00:27:47:00 - 00:27:50:01
Kristen
So why is he? Why is his mouth open like he's very defensive?
00:27:50:01 - 00:27:56:07
Freddy
Or now he's mad that I had him inside a box. Okay, okay. You can't see where he's at. Okay, puffy right now. Okay.
00:27:56:07 - 00:28:00:18
Chris
Yeah, he actually just hates being on live TV. He does. He.
00:28:00:20 - 00:28:07:08
Kristen
He is beautiful, though. Yeah, sure. Right now. Now, who is this a great pet for? Like, what is the ideal home environment.
00:28:07:08 - 00:28:18:03
Freddy
And I'm right here is for experienced P90x. Okay. You know if you've done your research you handle iguanas before. Then you know what you're getting yourself into. I wouldn't recommend this. And yes.
00:28:18:05 - 00:28:19:13
Chris
He doesn't look like a starter stock.
00:28:19:13 - 00:28:37:22
Freddy
Yeah, he doesn't have that look at all. Yeah. Now if you're telling me you're getting a baby, that's it. Yeah I recommend obedience starter pack. These are very simple and really easy to take care of. But getting a subadult or getting an adult in general don't do it guys. No definitely this is not an animal play with you will get bit.
00:28:38:00 - 00:28:39:04
Freddy
You know.
00:28:39:06 - 00:28:39:17
Kristen
Gotcha.
00:28:39:18 - 00:28:41:00
Freddy
All right.
00:28:41:02 - 00:28:44:05
Kristen
Yeah yeah yeah. Teresa.
00:28:44:07 - 00:28:45:04
Freddy
All right.
00:28:45:07 - 00:28:46:05
Kristen
Boy.
00:28:46:07 - 00:28:50:16
Freddy
Okay I know this one. You seen. Are you a big fan of dogs or not?
00:28:50:18 - 00:28:51:20
Kristen
Yeah. Of course.
00:28:51:21 - 00:28:53:15
Freddy
Okay. Have you ever heard of a TV before?
00:28:53:16 - 00:28:54:10
Kristen
I no.
00:28:54:10 - 00:28:58:03
Freddy
So Taser dog or basically the dog world of the lizard.
00:28:58:05 - 00:29:03:08
Kristen
Okay. Tegu. Yes. How you spell that? You take it. Okay. Gotcha.
00:29:03:09 - 00:29:19:04
Freddy
So they're really big and they're super, super lazy because, like me, she just started, right? Hey, you're right. yes. So this guy, his name is juggernaut. It's awesome. Not so pretty. Here's now his.
00:29:19:04 - 00:29:20:20
Kristen
Beautiful flower.
00:29:20:20 - 00:29:38:16
Freddy
On the grass are native to, they're actually native to, My God, their native, the Colombian or native to Argentina. I had bring it. Right. I'm so sorry. It's a little back. So people, when they see it. Oh, my God, it's a Komodo dragon. No, these guys are in a class all their own. They're not tegus and they're not lizards at all.
00:29:38:16 - 00:29:59:00
Freddy
They're not even monitors in a class all by themselves. But this guy right here, where he fruits, he won't touch vegetables. But you can give them blueberries, raspberries, grapes. So any strawberries? And then for protein. You gave him eggs? I gave him as well. I gave him trout. I gave him chicken legs. I gave him chicken feet, chicken gizzards.
00:29:59:02 - 00:30:02:14
Freddy
18. Looks good to move. Try to chase it. There we go. Said that.
00:30:02:16 - 00:30:06:14
Kristen
And what kind of an environment? Like housing or.
00:30:06:16 - 00:30:19:10
Freddy
An animal like this? I definitely recommend an enclosure outside. Okay. Make us something that's going to be around like six feet wide, right? It'd be perfect outside that we just ram it in. All right. That's a beautiful animal. No.
00:30:19:12 - 00:30:24:17
Kristen
Is a tiger. That's a hedge. Would you have one, or is it better to have love that?
00:30:24:19 - 00:30:39:12
Freddy
Or has it been your first time in here till you get one? Yeah. One's always going to bond with the first person they see. Okay. If you get two, they're not going to want nothing to do with you. They're going to do they're gonna want to be with each other and not look, I don't like that one because people break that as well.
00:30:39:12 - 00:30:52:05
Freddy
Two the best way to be able to bond with these animals get something that smells like you really, really bad, like a dirty soccer and underwear. Leave it inside your enclosure with them for about five days, I guarantee you. Love you the seventh day.
00:30:52:07 - 00:31:02:00
Chris
That's amazing. Yes. All right, so, Freddie, we are coming up on time. If people want to learn more about reptiles, learn more about your store. If they're in the Vegas area, want to give you a visit? Where can they come find you?
00:31:02:04 - 00:31:10:17
Freddy
They can find me at 1729 East Charleston Boulevard. I'm only five minutes away from Fremont, guys, one of the best stores in Vegas.
00:31:10:19 - 00:31:13:11
Chris
Awesome, man. This is such a treat. I mean, this is so fun.
00:31:13:11 - 00:31:18:11
Kristen
Thank you for educating us. I have to say, I'm pretty proud of about your snake.
00:31:18:13 - 00:31:24:17
Freddy
I was a little nervous. I should have brought tarantula. Yeah. Kind of. Bro.
00:31:24:19 - 00:31:29:22
Kristen
Thank you. Freddy, you.
00:31:30:00 - 00:31:32:09
Voice Over
The product of the week.
00:31:32:10 - 00:31:41:21
Chris
All right, it's time for our product of the week. Our putt putt putt putt putt product of the week.
00:31:41:22 - 00:31:50:19
Unknown
The pop up of product of the week of the week.
00:31:50:21 - 00:32:11:01
Kristen
Boom! Wow. I tell you what. It it was really difficult to pick the product today because oh my gosh, I saw so many amazing products on the show floor. but I did pick one. And this is do we have some we have some video to roll. Yeah okay. Some b rolls, some B roll some. Let's get Chris off the camera here.
00:32:11:01 - 00:32:33:13
Kristen
And there we go. Okay. So this is an indestructible dog toy for those super chewers. It's, the brand called Bionic. And the guy that developed this has worked on it for 20 years. And there's two things that make it really unique. I don't know if you notice that, but he he just put it in a, in a blender and there's not a single mark on it.
00:32:33:15 - 00:32:41:05
Kristen
And now he's going to put this, put it in this little device and try to stab it. Look at that. And it doesn't even make a mark.
00:32:41:07 - 00:32:45:02
Chris
And that device has OSHA written all over it.
00:32:45:02 - 00:33:02:17
Kristen
Totally, totally, totally. What makes this thing indestructible is the materials. And these materials are used in heart valves and in submarine seals. So like these are no fail materials. And look at this one here. They they stretched it and they I think they put it up to 300 pounds of pressure.
00:33:02:17 - 00:33:04:08
Chris
Like 112 pounds there. Yeah.
00:33:04:09 - 00:33:20:03
Kristen
So anyway they come in some really cool shapes. We've got like a bone shape, they've got a, Frisbee disc shape. So if you have a dog that is a really aggressive chewer and you have trouble like going through lots of chew toys, I definitely suggest you check out Bionic.
00:33:20:06 - 00:33:26:18
Chris
That's absolutely awesome, man. That is. That is crazy. You ever see that Robin Williams film Flubber.
00:33:26:20 - 00:33:30:23
Kristen
On the film? I know what Flubber is.
00:33:31:01 - 00:33:53:23
Chris
He's never seen Flubber with Robin. No, we have movie night. Okay. The joke obviously didn't land. We'll move on. My my product of the week. Play the tape run. I got some B-roll up there. So, as you know, animal shed. And when they shed, their hair gets everywhere, and so I, I own a beautiful Dyson vacuum with the pet attachments, use it to clean the couch and everything like that.
00:33:54:01 - 00:34:13:13
Chris
And I own one of these. I got one of these right here. It's from Uproot Clean, brand new winner of Global Pet Expo and Super Zoo's Best in Show awards. So I've been using the vacuum to clean my couch this whole time because as we joke all the time, I'm horribly allergic to my cat. Have to do so many different things to make sure that I'm just, like, able to breathe in my own home.
00:34:13:15 - 00:34:31:15
Chris
I vacuum the couch, then took this to it. And it's it's simple. You sort of scrape it across the couch. These are nice clean couches, so nothing's going to come up. Still found like an entire cat's worth of hair after that, after the Dyson. So they got all sorts of shapes. This is like obviously the most like introductory small.
00:34:31:15 - 00:34:48:18
Chris
It's like the size of a comb. Low price point. Then they've got some with grips. You can see in the video this guy's got a beautiful handheld one. They have one that's like Swiffer size. If you've got like, like a very low rug that you just struggle to vacuum up. And I just think it's great because animal hair is annoying.
00:34:48:20 - 00:34:52:17
Chris
Like, it's honestly, for me, the worst part of owning my pet.
00:34:52:17 - 00:34:54:18
Kristen
Right. Well, especially with your allergies.
00:34:54:23 - 00:35:10:21
Chris
Exactly. So if you're like me and you're an animal lover, but you're super allergic to your pet. great little tool. Great little tool. Right here. Check them out. I believe it's just upright clean up root. It's on the back of the website. uproot, clean and uproot clean.com.
00:35:10:23 - 00:35:13:21
Kristen
That's a good one. That's a good one.
00:35:13:23 - 00:35:15:18
Chris
And you know what that means. Christen.
00:35:15:20 - 00:35:17:22
Kristen
It's time for your favorite segment.
00:35:17:22 - 00:35:39:00
Chris
It's time for my favorite segment. We're going to be answering some questions from our audience. And now normally what we have you guys do is head on over to the website Petsaddlife.org/podcast, scroll to the bottom and submit questions. But we're live in Las Vegas. You could hear the rumblings of an anxious crowd waiting on bated breath to ask their questions.
00:35:39:00 - 00:35:42:07
Chris
So we're actually going to get two of our questions directly from our audience today.
00:35:43:12 - 00:35:44:19
Voice Over
Q and A's.
00:35:44:21 - 00:35:49:05
Kristen
All right. Close, high, close to be the US live.
00:35:49:07 - 00:35:51:03
Chris
What's your question for the two pals?
00:35:51:07 - 00:36:03:20
Chloe
Question for both of you. So my question for both of you is when you do this kind of hosting, you learn things right. You are always absorbing new information. So what is the best factoid you learned today.
00:36:03:22 - 00:36:04:22
Chris
To just to get.
00:36:04:22 - 00:36:05:13
Kristen
Just today.
00:36:05:13 - 00:36:06:15
Chris
And just.
00:36:06:17 - 00:36:27:23
Kristen
Focus it in today? What's the best factoid? I learned a factoid about snakes. They are either constrictors or they're venomous. So the constrictors constrict and squeeze their prey to kill them, and then the venomous snakes bite them. Is that is that the kind of question okay, okay. Yeah. Yeah, that's exactly right.
00:36:28:01 - 00:36:48:04
Chris
That's a great factoid. It's so tough for me to come up with a factoid, because the honest truth is, I spend most of my day blathering away like a drone in the app booth. don't tell my boss. It's actually, like, right there. I'm glad he did. You, you know, I like Freddy. Brought in a lot of really cool facts.
00:36:48:04 - 00:37:16:14
Chris
The fact that the anaconda lives 90% of its life in the water, is super cool, that the pot belly pace could get up to 100 pounds is super cool. But I think, like coming to one of these shows, one of the factoids that just impresses me every single time is the breadth of the pet industry. and it's so easy to boil it down to guess like retailers and manufacturers, but there's so many people in between and above the supply chain and below it, all the way down to the consumer that makes this thing tick.
00:37:16:16 - 00:37:36:02
Chris
And it really takes coming to an event like Super Zoo or, Global Pet Expo, to really hammer that home and make you realize that everybody has a place in this industry. It doesn't matter who you are if you're a pet owner or you've got a retail store, or you've just invented a brand new product, there's a spot for you here.
00:37:36:02 - 00:37:38:20
Chris
And I think that that continues to fascinate me every single day.
00:37:38:20 - 00:37:43:14
Chloe
Great point. Yes. Excellent. Well, you both just put your spot on the map.
00:37:43:16 - 00:37:45:09
Chris
There we go. Thank you.
00:37:45:11 - 00:37:47:16
Kristen
All right, we have another question. Hi, Patrick.
00:37:47:17 - 00:37:48:13
Patrick
Hello. How are you doing?
00:37:48:14 - 00:37:50:12
Kristen
Doing great. How are you? Are you enjoying the show?
00:37:50:13 - 00:37:52:12
Patrick
I'm enjoying the show. Enjoying the show a lot.
00:37:52:14 - 00:37:53:17
Kristen
Okay. What's your question?
00:37:53:21 - 00:38:10:03
Patrick
So my question for you all. So I want you to answer first. What is Chris's most embarrassing moment when y'all have been doing an episode? And then, Chris, I want you to answer, well.
00:38:10:05 - 00:38:10:22
Chris
This is unfair.
00:38:11:00 - 00:38:15:13
Patrick
Because it's so much easier. That's a good question. It's so it's easier.
00:38:15:16 - 00:38:16:14
Kristen
You're getting embarrassed about.
00:38:16:15 - 00:38:35:19
Chris
Kristin is an avid professional. She is, consistently prepared and and able to tackle anything. There was one time, though, you I forget which guest it was, and normally, like, we really weren't intimidated by doing this live show because we truly do the podcast and usually one take and very rarely have to go. Can I get that again?
00:38:35:19 - 00:38:49:05
Chris
And kind of got that again? And there's one guest where you stumble over their name like three times in a row. And I was my mouth was agape because I'm like, she's just like me.
00:38:49:07 - 00:38:58:12
Chris
She she isn't. She isn't superwoman. She's just like me. And so I don't remember. I guess it was, but we had to do it a few times before we landed on the right pronunciation.
00:38:58:14 - 00:39:15:17
Kristen
Gosh, is this a tough question? There's a lot that well, I'm really having trouble coming up with one. I thought it was really funny the one time that I realize a lot of our guests are people that I know already. You know, like, I've either worked with them in the past. I've been doing. I've been in the industry for 30 years.
00:39:15:17 - 00:39:19:03
Kristen
You haven't even been on the earth for, well, maybe 30 now. About 30 years.
00:39:19:05 - 00:39:23:06
Chris
Yeah, we'll say it. I will say I haven't for those listening at home, we'll say I haven't.
00:39:23:08 - 00:39:37:11
Kristen
It was kind of funny when just Chris just made this comment during one of the shows that we're just interviewing all your friends, and it was kind of funny because it was kind of true because we just done like five of my friends in a row, so perfect. I can't think of a time you were truly embarrassed.
00:39:37:11 - 00:39:55:10
Chris
Well, no, it's impossible to embarrass me. I don't feel shame. I don't, but I've definitely goofed a few times. Yeah, there's some pretty there's some pretty bad. Like, there's some pretty bad jokes that don't get recorded because I make them like when the guest is first coming on or after recording and stuff. That just doesn't make it onto the airwaves.
00:39:55:10 - 00:40:11:18
Chris
That would probably sink my career if they ever saw the light of day. Ron actually has so much blackmail on me. He's got all this clipped up, and he told me that if I don't do 150 episodes, he's going to release the tapes. So, so I I'm I'm here. I'm stuck here.
00:40:11:20 - 00:40:14:08
Kristen
But I think he's doing an awesome job. That's a good.
00:40:14:09 - 00:40:15:05
Chris
Job to.
00:40:15:07 - 00:40:19:04
Patrick
You think. And this is fun. This is this is fun.
00:40:19:06 - 00:40:37:00
Chris
Yeah I think folks that brings us to the end of our first ever live show. I hope one day we get to do this again. Kristen. Yeah, maybe a global. Well, definitely, definitely at global, but maybe somewhere in between. Okay. And so everybody listening at home, our show comes out every single Tuesday. It's the Pets Add Life podcast available wherever you get your podcasts.
00:40:37:00 - 00:40:53:18
Chris
Be sure to like, subscribe, leave comments, leave reviews, five star reviews, five star reviews only. I don't want to see. I don't want to see a single four star review. Where are you taking this stuff? Why are you doing that to me? I'm a five star man and this is a five star show. Thank you so much for joining us each and every week.
00:40:53:23 - 00:40:56:23
Chris
