Don’t Miss the Memo: Dogs Make Excellent Coworkers

Mark your calendars humans, because June 22 is Take your Dog to Work Day! If you’re anything like us, having to leave your dog makes it ridiculously hard to go to work – bringing them along, on the other hand, makes it freakin’ PAWESOME. It’s not just seeing their sweet, derpy faces from behind our computer screens that make this idea great, there are proven benefits to bringing pals to the office. According to multiple studies, pets in the workplace:

  • Improve morale and cause more unity among coworkers
  • Reduce stress and prompt therapeutic breaks.
  • Yield less absenteeism.
  • Which all boils down to higher productivity.

If you’re lucky enough to be pawticipating in Take Your Dog to Work Day, make sure you and your pal are prepared. Avoid bringing dogs that are high energy, nervous, or overly vocal, as you want this to be a fun experience for everyone. Make sure you have something to entertain and treat your pet with, as well as a leash and doggy bags, and always respect the colleagues who choose not to engage with your pet. And be involved! Monitor your pet’s behavior and always correct it if it’s becoming a nuisance to any of your peers.
